“COLOMBIS” is a small production Châteauneuf-du-Pape made by bonafide appellation star Isabel FERRANDO, of Domaine Saint-Préfert. The idea behind this second domaine stems from Isabel's desire to show another terroir expression of Châteauneuf du Pape besides that of Domaine St. Préfert. The wine is sourced from the eponymous lieu-dit of Colombis as well as two other parcels: Terre Blanches (just north of the town) and Le Cristia (directly contiguous to Chateau Rayas' holdings).
Made from 100% Grenache from 60+ year old vines, Colombis is aged entirely in a large oak vessel called a “tronconique”, or truncated oak vat. The resulting wine is sumptuously rich, but deeply expressive of its place of origin. |
