Olivier Guyot   ,

Never exported to our market before! A sommelier in a three-star restaurant tipped us off that this domaine was making great wines… And they are! A friend of the late Denis Mortet, he is styling his wines similarly to those from that famous estate. The Guyot family is one of the oldest in Marsannay-la-Côte, the village just north of Gevrey-Chambertin, and quality here has skyrocketed since Olivier Guyot began running the domaine in 1990. The estate today encompasses 15 hectares of vines in Marsannay and Gevrey-Chambertin, as well as small holdings in grands crus Clos-St-Denis and Clos de la Roche in Morey-St-Denis. Friendly and enthusiastic, Olivier is thoroughly committed to organic and biodynamic viticulture, which he has practiced since 1998. He ploughs his vineyards to enrich the soils, even using his horse to plough his better holdings (see below)! Everything is hand-harvested, and rigorously sorted both in the vineyard and the winery. The wines themselves combine textural richness and fruit purity with excellent terroir delineation; in his own words, Olivier remarks: “My
wines are floral, elegant, gourmand, [and] sensual…” Domaine Guyot’s website is phenomenal, with terrific photos, interviews, and loads of information:
