This wine is a terrific Pinot Noir and one of the best values from this appellation in the Cote Challonaise. Old vines, Francois Freres barrels, a conscientious producer, and reasonable yields – all add up to dark color, good black fruits, and firm structure. A subtle, light-bodied pinot noir this is not. Domaine Xavier Besson uses the highest quality barrels, which impart a spicy, rich toasty nose with a touch of oak. |
