Frederic Magnien   ,
“I was impressed by the young Frédéric Magnien’s commitment to quality winemaking and his experimental, inquisitive mind.  Readers should watch for this young man’s wines. [He] has the capacity and drive to be a future star.”-The Wine Advocate

Frédéric Magnien is a 5th generation winemaker from the Magnien family and has devoted himself to wine production since he helped his father, Michel Magnien, in the vineyards and cellars in high school.  Although Maison Frédéric Magnien owns no vineyards, Frédéric  takes great pride and commitment in selecting the growers with whom he works and the vineyards from which he sources fruit.  He works only with growers who follow his stringent guidelines about pruning, green-harvesting and deciding when to harvest, all of which leads to low-yielding, quality fruit.  In some instances, Frédéric himself undertakes the vineyard work (these are the sites we tend to buy from him).   Many of the vineyards are certified organic, but all the sites are farmed using organic practices.  Careful sorting of the grapes in both the vineyards and in the meticulously clean cellar further ensures the final high level of quality fruit.  Frédéric’s wines seduce with deeply concentrated, lush, spicy fruits, and at the same time possess balance, length and breed – an honorable tribute to the prestigious premier and grand cru appellations he represents in his offerings.
